Geoff Sheil is an award-winning Irish composer based in the Washington DC area. His work ranges from contemporary chamber music, to jazz, to electronic music and has been performed across North America and Europe.
He has studied at University of Cambridge, UK, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MA and University of South Florida, FL, and holds degrees in natural science, composition and conducting.
Geoff is now completing a DMA in composition at University of Maryland, College Park, on the prestigious Flagship Fellowship. He also works actively as a photographer and video engineer.

Awaiting The Rest was recently awarded the 2014 Feis Ceoil IMRO Chamber Composition Prize (Ireland).
Every Instrument in this Room was commissioned by Current Resonance in 2012, and later arranged for percussion duo and electronics.
Falls was written for a workshop with Oliver Knussen and the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group at the Library of Congress, DC, April 2014.
Wild was read in Feb 2014 by the Kronos quartet as part of a UMD residency, and performed four times by invoke during the spring.
